Welcome to Strife Magazine !

Strife Magazine is a student-led platform within the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, dedicated to the study of human conflict and security. Rooted in the intellectual foundations of one of the world’s premier departments for the study of war and strategy, Strife offers a space for emerging scholars to engage critically with conflict studies. Our work reflects the Department’s commitment to analytical depth, methodological pluralism, and policy relevance.

We publish contributions that explore conflict in its many forms, including interstate wars, civil conflict, cyber security, terrorism, strategic competition, humanitarian crises, peace negotiations, and the evolving nature of global risk. We are particularly committed to fostering original, diverse, and interdisciplinary perspectives while ensuring that scholarship remains accessible to a broad and informed readership. Strife serves as a bridge between academic research and contemporary policy debates. Our aim is not only to inform, but to contribute meaningfully to debates in the fields of security studies, international relations, strategic studies, and conflict analysis.

We are currently accepting a range of submission types, including short academic articles, current analysis pieces, opinion essays, interviews, and book reviews. Full submission guidelines, including word counts, formatting expectations, and ethical standards, can be found here.

We believe that careful analysis and intellectual integrity are essential to understanding the complexities of modern conflict.
